The Kennebec Valley Emergency Medical Services Council is a consortium of ambulance and rescue services, hospitals, and associated businesses founded in 1980, to improve the quality and enhance the coordination of pre-hospital emergency medical services throughout Kennebec, Somerset and western Waldo counties. KVEMSC is a 503c non-profit organization that provides education and training, quality improvement, and technical assistance resources to its 38 EMS members and 5 hospital campuses which stretch from Litchfield to Jackman.
KVEMSC provides coordination for licensure, CEH, and specialty training programs to its providers and those providers licensed within the state of Maine. Students in courses that lead to licensure are students enrolled at the Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield. They will continuously be monitored and overseen by both that entity and the KVEMSC office.
The Kennebec Valley EMS Council is committed to serve in a leadership role for the enhancement of a comprehensive EMS system through accountability, quality improvement, collaboration, and cooperation among EMS providers along with the development and provision of support services.
The KVEMSC office works with our hospital partners to provide Quality Improvement and direction to its EMS services within our geographic area. We actively participate in both the Maine EMS Quality Improvement committee and Medical Direction and Practice Board, along with other committees established by Maine EMS whose purposes are to enhance the EMS System.
